An infrared sauna warms you with gentle heat instead of hot steam, and Airbnb has no filter for one in its menu. We searched the hidden one, read the listings and kept only whole homes where the sauna is yours alone and you can see it in the photos. These are the ten we would book first, from a cave carved into the rock under a medieval Umbrian village to a glass house above a Phillip Island surf break.

Before you book, ask the host how many people the sauna fits and how long it takes to warm up. Infrared cabins are often sized for one or two, so if you are travelling as a group it is worth checking.

How we chose: we searched every continent for Airbnbs with an infrared sauna, kept only whole homes rated 4.85 or higher whose photos show the infrared sauna, and picked the ten we would most like to stay in, at a range of prices. Nobody paid to be on this list.
