A holiday home with its own game room is hard to find, because Airbnb has no game room filter in its menu. We searched the hidden one across six continents and read every listing. These are the ten whole homes we would book first, from a slate villa above Cadaqués to a stone farmhouse on France's Opal Coast.

Before you book

Before you book, message the host and ask what is actually in the game room today, and whether everything works. Tables get moved and arcade machines break, so a quick question about the pool table, the table tennis and any consoles saves a disappointing rainy afternoon.

How we chose: we searched every continent for Airbnbs with a game room, kept only whole homes rated 4.85 or higher whose photos show the game room, and picked the ten we would most like to stay in, at a range of prices. Nobody paid to be on this list.
