A holiday home that comes with its own boat is hard to find, because Airbnb has no boat filter in its menu. We searched the hidden one, read the listings and looked at every photo to check the boat is really there for guests. These are the ten whole homes we would book first, from a thatched cottage on a private French lake to a boathouse on Pittwater, north of Sydney.

Before you book, ask the host whether the boat is included or costs extra, and which months it is in the water. Ask too about life jackets, and whether a motorboat needs a licence where you are going.
How we chose: we searched every continent for Airbnbs with a boat, kept only whole homes rated 4.85 or higher whose photos show the boat, and picked the ten we would most like to stay in, at a range of prices. Nobody paid to be on this list.
