A holiday home with its own arcade machine is hard to find, because Airbnb has no arcade filter in its menu. We searched the hidden one on every continent, read the listings and checked the photos for the actual cabinets. These are the ten whole homes we would book first, from a rammed-earth house beside an Australian national park to a container home on Baja's Sea of Cortez.

The owners rebuilt this house after the 2019–20 bushfires took the original, using rammed earth, steel, concrete and glass, and every room looks out over the regrowing bush and mountains. Five bedrooms have their own bathrooms, the main suite has a whole level to itself, and a separate cabin 50 metres away sleeps two more. The land runs to a creek with walking trails, and there is an outdoor bath and a fire pit.
The arcade: Next to the lower-floor media room is a neon-lit video arcade room with two full-size pinball machines.

A one-bedroom home finished in warm wood, sage-green walls and soft hidden lighting, with a stone-paved patio for morning coffee. The kitchen is fully equipped, there is a proper desk for work, and the sofa opens into a second double bed. It is one of the cheapest homes on this page and looks nothing like it.

Before you book, message the host and ask which games are loaded and whether every cabinet works today. Arcade machines are the first thing to break in a holiday home, and a one-line question saves a disappointing night in.
